Vintage Trains of the Northwest
Experience the beauty of the Northwest by train and motorcoach with deluxe hotel overnights and daily excursions. This is a magnificent vacation!

Day 1: We meet at your town of departure to board our bus to O’Hare Airport, and check in for our flight to Seattle. Upon arrival in Seattle, we are transferred to our hotel were we settle in for a three-night stay. Tonight we will visit the famous Space Needle with our welcome dinner served high above the city. (In-flight snack, D)

Day 2: After breakfast we depart for a visit to the restored Queen Anne-style Snoqualmie Depot and railroad museum. Then, depart of a round-trip train ride to Snoqualmie Falls. Lunch will be at the beautiful Salish Lodge on a cliff high above the Falls. Travel to Tacoma for a visit to the Museum District including historic Union Station and the Museum of Glass. This afternoon, board the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad to experience the Golden Age of steam as you chug across spectacular bridges, through lush forests and past majestic Mr. Rainier. (B, L)

Day 3: Relax this morning before a sightseeing tour of Seattle including the Hiram Chittenden Locks, Pioneer Square and Pikes Street Market. This afternoon, you’ll take a ride on the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train with a four-course dinner served on board. As you circle Lake Washington, the train will stop at the award-winning Columbia Winery before returning to Seattle. (B, D)

Day 4: After breakfast we depart our hotel and Seattle as we travel to Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument to enjoy the overlooks at the Visitor Center and experience nature’s force with interpretive displays and films of the 1980 eruption. Then, head for Portland, Oregon and a three-night stay at our first class hotel. Dinner this evening will be in the Pearl District followed by a tasting at one of Portland’s famous microbreweries. Day 5:  Board the beautiful Oregon Coast Explorer with lunch served on-board as you admire the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean. Next, visit the famous Tillamook Cheese Factory before returning to Portland. (B, L)

Day 6: We depart today for the Columbia River Gorge where we will board the Mount Hood Scenic Railway. Lunch will be included with a narrated history of the valley. Return via motorcoach with stops en-route at Multnomah Falls and Bonneville Locks & Dam. Enjoy a special farewell dinner in Portland. (B, L, D)

Day 7: After breakfast we check out of our hotel and transfer to the airport for our flight back to Chicago. (B)
Air Transportation
We will use a major airline from Chicago to Seattle and back again from Portland – the flight might operate either out of O’Hare or from Midway Airport.
