The Da Vinci Code and Holy Grail Tour
This fascinating tour visits the great capital cities of London, Edinburgh and Paris as well as other mystical sites such as Glastonbury, Stonehenge and Avebury, the great cathedral of Durham and Royal Windsor Castle. The tour follows in the footsteps of the fictional Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu, in Dan Brown’s best selling, controversial novel, “The Da Vinci Code”. Along the way you will visit the main sites described in the novel as well as other sites associated with the Knights Templar and the Holy Grail and drive some of the routes followed by our heroes. Your guides will be conversant with the story, the sites visited and also the symbology and mysticism surrounding the story of the Grail, the Templars and the “Divine Feminine”.   

Day 01: We meet at your town of departure to board our bus to the airport, and check in for our flight to London. We will be served dinner and can watch a movie during our overnight flight. (In-flight meals)

Day 02: Upon arrival in London, we meet our coach and driver, and transfer to our hotel located in central London. We will be at this hotel for the next four (4) nights; the remainder of the day is free for you to explore the area on your own. We will meet as a group tonight for our welcome dinner. (D)

Day 03:  Today will be spent exploring London by coach with a Blue Badge Guide. You will drive by the most famous sights and stop for visits to some of the most important. These will include The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Downing Street, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and St. Paul‘s Cathedral. (B, D)

Day 04: Today we have a guided tour of London’s “Da Vinci Code” sights. These include the Temple Church, which dates back to 1185 and is one of the oldest and most important Templar sites in London. It is also London’s only circular church. Here Robert and Sophie started their London search for clues to the whereabouts of the Grail. The crypt contains many effigies of knights and an ancient penitential cell. Continue via Fleet Street and King’s College, where Robert consulted a researcher. Then to magnificent Westminster Abbey for a visit with a guide to Poets Corner, the Tomb of Sir Isaac Newton, where Robert discovered important clues about the “Truth” and the Chapter House, where Sir Leigh Teabing reveals that he is “The Teacher”. Robert discovers the secret code to open the Grand Master’s cryptex.  After lunch continue via St. James’s Park (where Sir Leigh disposed of Remy Legaludec), to the National Gallery to view the painting of the Virgin on the Rocks by Leonardo da Vinci.  (B, D)

Day 05: Today you may visit more of London’s mediaeval past including the Priory of the Knights Hospitallers, The Priory Church of St. Bartholomew the Great, St. Bart’s Hospital and St. John’s Gate. (B, D)

Day 06: Drive from London to Glastonbury, said to have been visited by Joseph of Arimethea and St. Mary Magdalene, who hid the Holy Grail in the Chalice Well and also said to be the burial place of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. En route we will visit mystical Stonehenge and Avebury Circle. We will be spending 2 nights in the Glastonbury area. (B, D)

Day 07: Today will be spent visiting Glastonbury Abbey, the Chalice Well and Glastonbury Tor, as well as some of the many other mystical sites in the area. (B, D)

Day 08: Today we drive to the Lake District and enjoy the most beautiful scenery in England!  We will spend one (1) night in the delightful village of Grasmere, with many associations with William Wordsworth. (B, D)

Day 09:  Leaving the Lake District we continue to the stately city of Edinburgh, the historic capital of Scotland, where we will stay for the next three (3) nights. Dinner will be taken at our hotel each evening. (B, D)

Day 10: Today you will spend your time exploring Edinburgh on foot with a Blue Badge Guide. You will visit famous and historic Edinburgh Castle and walk the Royal Mile, ending up at the Royal residence of Holyrood House Palace. En route you may visit St. Giles Cathedral and perhaps some of the smaller but fascinating museums of Edinburgh life. In the evening you may take an optional Ghost Walk! (B, D) 

Day 11: Today we will enjoy a full day guided tour from Edinburgh along the “Rosslyn Trail”, following the Golden section of the Rose Line, which starts at Arthur’s Seat and ends at the Rosslyn Chapel. The chapel contains beautifully intricate stone carvings depicting Knights Templar, Masonic, Jewish, Egyptian and both pagan and Christian symbols. Here Robert discovers information on the past hiding place of the Holy Grail and picks up the next clues on the trail, whilst Sophie finds her lost brother and the secret of her bloodline. The Trail explores some of the other fascinating Templar and St. Clair family sites. Return to Edinburgh (B, D)

Day 12: Today we will drive from Edinburgh to Durham; where we will visit the magnificent Norman Cathedral and stay overnight in the city. (B, D)

Day 13: Today we will continue our drive south to Windsor where we will be staying overnight in a historic hotel. (B, D)

Day 14: Today we start with a visit to the great Royal Windsor Castle, one of the residences of the Royal Family. After lunch we will either transfer to London Heathrow Airport for flight to Paris, or transfer to the train station to catch the Eurostar and have a Chunnel crossing.  Transfer from the Paris airport to an excellent hotel close to the Louvre, where we will be spending the next three (3) nights. Day 15: Today we will have a general sightseeing tour of Paris with a guide. This will include all the famous sights including the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, the Champs Elysee, the church of the Madeleine, the Paris Opera House, Notre Dame, the Gare du Nord (where Sophie bought tickets for Lille to confuse Captain Bezu Fache) and ending at the Sacre Coeur, where the Rose Line starts on its way to the church of Saint-Sulpice. Day 16: We start this morning with a visit to the church of San-Sulpice where the search for the Grail started and where Silas broke the paving stone by the Egyptian obelisk. Continue to the Grand Palace of the Louvre for a visit with guide. Follow the bronze medallions in the pavement in the Royal Arcade to the Louvre and see the Grand Gallery, where Jacques Sauniere was brutally murdered, the Mona Lisa, The Madonna on the Rocks, the Pyramid, and the Inverse Pyramid etc.  This afternoon we will drive to the Chateau Villette, featured in the novel as the home of Sir Leigh Teabing, for a guided tour. Day 17: Regretfully, it’s time to bid au revoir and transfer to the airport for our flight home. We return, however, with memories of lovely landscapes, breathtaking castles and mysteries solved. Welcome home! (B, in-flight meals)
