Guy, Iowa Travel Consultant, brings a wealth of travel experience to our staff. Guy’s award-winning bands at Pella Community High School in Pella, Iowa, performed in the “Cherry Blossom Parade” in Washington, D.C.; the “Festival of States Parade” in St. Petersburg, Florida; the “Citrus Bowl Parade” in Orlando, Florida; the “Fiesta Bowl Parade in Phoenix, Arizona; and made two appearances in the “Tournament of Roses Parade” in Pasadena, California. During his 36-year teaching career Guy served as President of the Iowa Bandmasters Association, the Iowa Music Educators Association, and the Iowa Association of Jazz Educators, and also served as the Executive Director of the Iowa Music Educators Association. Guy continues to serve as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the Midwest. Guy and his wife Jane enjoy spending time with their daughter and son-in-law Brenna & Gene Dooley, who both play trumpet with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, and daughter Lindsy who attends Truman State University. Favorite Disney Character: Does Annette Funicello count? I, along with every 10-year old boy, had a crush on her when she was a Mouseketeer on the Mickey Mouse Club TV Show. Otherwise it would have to be Timon & Pumbaa, my favorite comedy duo since Abbott & Costello. Most Memorable Travel Moment: Turning the corner of Orange Grove & Colorado Boulevard as director of the “Marching Dutch” in 1988 and then again in 2003. |
