Border Admission Requirements
Entry into Canada from the United States
- Citizens or permanent residents of the United States are required to bring
- a passport/visa or birth certificate with raised seal and
- valid picture identification.
- Naturalized citizens should carry a naturalization certificate.
- All persons other than US citizens or legal, permanent resident of the United States require a valid passport and acceptable travel document.
- Foreign students and workers in the US may encounter difficulties entering Canada with their passports and a Canadian visitor’s visa if they are from a visa-required country.
- To ensure re-admission to the US, a foreign student attending a US educational institution who wishes to visit Canada, must have a
- a valid passport
- a valid visitor’s visa if applicable
- I-94 Arrival-Departure Record
- a current I-20 copy of IAP-66 indicating student’s statu
